Investing in Supernova: Transforming How Kids Learn Coding & Computational Thinking

Note: Supernova has since pivoted to being a private tutor for every child and teaches English, Maths, and Science.

We're thrilled to announce our investment in Supernova, a company on a mission to transform how kids learn coding and computational thinking using a mobile-first product centered around fun, activity-based learning.

The global landscape of coding education for kids is ripe for disruption. Existing players in the Indian market, such as WhiteHat Jr and CampK12, rely on a 1:1 teaching model that struggles to scale effectively. This approach leads to linear growth in teacher requirements, inconsistent teaching quality, and an inability to leverage network effects. As a result, these courses become expensive, limiting their accessibility to only affluent students and intensifying competition for a narrow customer base. This, in turn, drives up customer acquisition costs, making it challenging to scale beyond a certain point in a price-conscious market.

Supernova addresses these challenges head-on by offering an interactive, mobile-first learning experience that combines asynchronous learning with engaging game-like elements. By providing a productized offering instead of a one-size-fits-all service model, Supernova enables a freemium approach that makes coding education accessible to a broader audience.

The potential market for Supernova is immense. In India, millions of kids pay significant annual school fees, presenting a substantial opportunity for Supernova to monetize a portion of this student base at an affordable monthly price point. Moreover, as a global product, Supernova has the opportunity to expand into other regions such as the Americas, MENA, and SEA, where pricing could be even higher. Our TAM calculation estimates a multi-billion dollar opportunity in India alone.

Supernova's founding team is exceptionally well-suited to tackle this challenge. Maharishi, a skilled brand builder, has been creating games that drive sellable outcomes since 2020. Anirudh, a second-time founder, previously built and exited Myra after scaling it to $15 million ARR. Nawin brings valuable experience from his time at Vedantu, where he pioneered the two-teacher model and led learning experiences and engagement. Together, they form a formidable team with a proven track record of delivering successful exits and deep operating experience in edtech and gaming.

We've been working closely with the Supernova team for over ten months and have witnessed their journey firsthand. We firmly believe they are one of the finest teams positioned to solve the problem of making coding education accessible and engaging for kids.

We're excited to partner with Nawin, Maharishi, Anirudh, and the entire Supernova team as they revolutionize coding education for kids worldwide. By leveraging mobile technology, gamification, and a freemium model, Supernova is poised to make a significant impact on the way kids learn and develop computational thinking skills.
